August 2019 Accolades

Juliana Tafur (2003) produced and directed a documentary, debuting this fall, called LIST(e)N that takes people with high-profile cases who have opposing viewpoints on our most hot button issues – guns, abortion and immigration – and gets them to listen and dialogue with one another. It has already won the Award of Excellence from the IndieFEST Film Awards, 2019. Juliana is an award-winning content producer for Discovery Networks.

Nkem Okafor (2002) received the Exemplary Trailblazer award from the Association of Nigerian Women Entrepreneurs and Professionals at their 2019 Annual Fundraising and Awards Convention for her work in the healthcare industry. Nkem is the Vice President of Strategy & Planning at Methodist Health System, a $1.4 billion, 9 hospital system in Dallas Fort Worth.
Brad Galiette (2004) was elected to the Yale Alumni Association Board of Governors and their selection committee for the Yale Board of Trustees.
Samuel Vilchez Santiago (2015) was selected as the 2019 Glickman Prize recipient at Princeton University for his work in community service and civic engagement.
2015 Scholars Clara Ma and Esteban Abeyta were selected to receive the Churchill Scholarship and will be studying in Cambridge, UK, this coming year.
