May 2020 Connections

LaQuanda Prince (Finance Manager, CCSF) held a zoom meeting with the 2020 Scholars to discuss ways they can use their scholarship money and the disbursement process. 125 of them were able to join this interactive session that included bingo, dancing, and Kahoot quizzes on what they learned, and those who missed out will get to watch a recording. Now they all know when they may hear #issano from LaQuanda!

Hilary Corna (2003) and Pamit Surana (1989) led a webinar, How Businesses Can Use Rapid Change to Win Over Customers in a Post-Pandemic Business Climate.

Pamit is the Senior Managing Director at Teneo in New York City, and Hilary is the founder and CEO of Corna Partners, an organization that helps mid-cap growth companies fix broken processes from scaling to fast by humanizing them to become market leaders in their industry.

In the webinar, they discussed operational and financial impacts to large, medium, and small businesses, shared ideas and insight on what they are seeing in this rapidly changing marketplace and more. More than 50 Coke Scholars attended, one stating, “I think that Hilary and Pamit did a fantastic job! They provided many examples for the points that they made. This created a very easy-to-understand and thorough presentation!”
Kiera Peltz (2012) led an info session on the Schwarzman Scholars program and other fellowships that she’s been part of, knowing that many of her fellow Coke Scholars would be great candidates for these programs.
Juliana Tafur (2003), producer and documentarian, led a special 2-hour digital experience exclusively for Coke Scholars where she screened her documentary, LIST(e)N, and led an engaging discussion about listening courageously. Two stars of the film even joined the discussion as a surprise!

As each new episode of The SIP, The Coke Scholars Ignite Podcast, is released, our hosts and guests have been taking the conversation live, and CCSF’s president, Jane, got in on the fun as well!

Albert Lawrence (2003) went live with Juliana Tafur (2003) on CCSF’s Instagram on April 28 to talk about the first episode of The SIP, Vulnerability and the Art of Listening.
Albert Lawrence (2003) went live on CCSF’s Instagram again, and this time with Shaan Patel (2007) on May 12. They shared nuggets from the second episode of The SIP, Building a Shark Tank Side Hustle.
CCSF president Jane Hale Hopkins and Kate Sullivan (1994) joined the Instagram live fun, too, on May 13. They discussed embracing growth mode and how they and CCSF have been adjusting to our new way of life.
Next, Jolene Loetscher (1997) and Sarah Turnbull (1996) streamed live not only on CCSF’s Instagram, but also on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube on May 26. The pair talked about making episode 3 of The SIP, Becoming an Advocate for Children with Rare Diseases.
