Coke Scholars Real Talk

CCSF hosted the second forum of the new Coke Scholars Real Talk series, titled Antiracism and Allyship in the Workplace.

CCSF president Jane Hale Hopkins hosted a Q&A with Joelle Murchison (1991), Founder and Principal of Exec Mommy Group, about how to navigate uncomfortable conversations around race, diversity, and inclusion in professional and personal relationships and how to begin the journey of change within an organization.

The Real Talk series is designed to share our collective experiences from varied points of view. Though the conversations may be challenging the goal is the same, to better understand one another.

Led by Coke Scholars for Coke Scholars

Coke Scholar parents connected virtually to share their highs and lows of parenting in the pandemic. Jolene Loetscher (1997) moderated a discussion among a panel of parents including Will Schultz (1994), Rosalyn Kennedy (1997), Jeannine Bell Whittaker (1998), Alice Park (1999), Samuel Wakefield (2001) and Dr. Laura Froyen (2002).
Dr. Armen Kherlopian (2001) led a Coke Scholars Pro class, Storytelling to Enable Growth and Resilience of Your Organization, which covered how to be a rainmaker in your organization.
Quinn Holmquist (2012) led Fermentation 101: Making kombucha, kimchi, sourdough and more in your home. Attendees had so much fun, they got together a few weeks later to check in on their sourdough starters.

Coke Scholars Book Club

Iman Cooper (2011) led a book study for Coke Scholars on The Other Wes Moore by Wes Moore.

Podcasts, TV Shows, and More

The SIP released a bonus episode! Albert Lawrence (2003) interviewed Beatriz “Bea” Perez, CCSF Board Member & the Senior Vice President and Chief Communications, Public Affairs, Sustainability, and Marketing Assets Officer for The Coca-Cola Company.

Bea shares how a series of educated risks, including a demotion, influenced her 25-year career journey at The Coca-Cola Company and gives a peek behind the curtain of how the company has shifted in response to the global pandemic and its work supporting social justice.
Kate Sullivan (1999) interviewed Mayor of Stockton, CA, Michael Tubbs (2008) for her show, To Dine For with Kate Sullivan, to air in early 2021.
CCSF needed a new voicemail recording and Justin J. Pearson (2003) came to the rescue! Justin also lent his voice to every episode in the first season of The SIP, serving as the guide throughout the Coke Scholars Ignite Podcast.
