The amazing Samuel Alemayehu – fellow Coke Scholar, Entrepreneur, a guy I can call a Mentor, and a true African Changemaker. We have spoken for years on the phone, never met in person. Walking down the famous Davos Promenade – this picture is our First Moment of Truth (#FMOT), as Procter & Gamble would call it.”

I was even more excited because I already knew her as a patient of my practice West Hartford Orthodontics. Although it felt like just yesterday when I was the high schooler being named a Coca-Cola Scholar, it’s pretty surreal that I’m the adult and mentor seeing the next generation of Scholars named. To have one of my young patients whose smiles I’ve helped create receive this recognition is so cool! Of course, we had to document this momentous occasion and swap swag and stories about Coca-Cola at the office. Plus, I shared with her that there are some other Coca-Cola Scholars in my family. We’re already looking forward to the reunion next 2023! :)”

“I just finished up my final meeting with my Coke Scholars Coach, Talia Fradkin. One of my SMART goals this past semester was to spread awareness about child abuse at Grove City College (where I’m currently attending school.) I accomplished my SMART goal by putting up 150+ pinwheels around campus and collaborated with the Child Advocacy Center of Lawrence County and the Dean of Student Life & Learning at Grove City College to make this happen.”
