January 2023 Accolades

Justin J. Pearson (2013) is one of the youngest state lawmakers to fill the Tennessee House District 86 seat after winning his recent election in Memphis.
Naily Nevarez (2015) was selected as a 2023 MAP fellow. The Morgridge Acceleration Program (MAP) Fellowship matches nonprofit executives, called MAP Mentors, with emerging leaders, called MAP Fellows, looking to create a positive impact while developing professional skill sets and networks.
Andrew Longenecker (2003) and Yosh Miller (2005) were named to the new class of Presidential Leadership Scholars. PLS serves as a catalyst for a diverse network of established leaders brought together to collaborate and make a difference in the world as they learn about leadership through the lens of the presidential experiences of George W. Bush, William J. Clinton, George H.W. Bush, and Lyndon B. Johnson.

Coke Scholar alums who have previously been named Presidential Leadership Scholars include Daron K. Roberts (1997), Rudy Fernandez (1991), Jolene Loetscher (1997), and Crystal Moore (2003).
Dr. Tyrha M. Lindsey-Warren (1990), Clinical Assistant Professor of Marketing and the Director of Industry Relations and Experiential Learning at the Hankamer School of Business at Baylor University, was announced as the recipient of the 2022 ATHENA Leadership Award®.
Founded by Martha Mayhood Mertz in 1982, the ATHENA International organization honors women leaders and brings balance to leadership voices worldwide. ATHENA International presents the ATHENA Leadership Award® program, which enables chambers of commerce, women’s organizations, and universities the opportunity to honor a woman or a man who demonstrates the qualities embodied in the ATHENA Leadership Model as well as who has achieved the highest level of professional excellence.
Kate Wesler (2010) was awarded Best Supporting Performer in a Musical for her performance as Fastrada in PIPPIN in by BroadwayWorld Connecticut, who honors the best in regional productions, touring shows, and more.
Annie Ostojic (2020) wrote a medical deepfake op-ed piece that was published in the San Francisco Chronicle. Annie was also interviewed by ABC 7 Bay Area regarding her op-ed piece and her segment is from 0:00 – 10:28.
Samorn Selim (2000) wrote an article entitled “Don’t Pause Your Job Search Just Because It’s the Holidays” that was published in the Harvard Business Review in December.
